Two problems, two tools
Coupling treats the polymer–mineral filler interface. Compatibilizer treats the interface between distinct polymers or recyclate phases. Swapping one for the other is the most common plant mistake.
How to decide
If the symptom is mechanical drop with filler (e.g. PP+carbonate), start with coupling. If there is delamination, fish-eyes or blend/PCR loss, the axis is compatibilization — and odor may need a separate package.
