Pigment dispersion in masterbatch: wax, lubricant and torque
Agglomerates, uneven coverage and high torque: diagnosis with PE wax, dispersing lubricant and pigment choice.
Bad color is almost always dispersion
Before blaming the pigment, check agglomerates, addition order, vehicle viscosity and whether lubrication is helping or hurting shear.
Package tools
Micronized PE wax and dispersing lubricant act on different axes: flow/finish vs breaking agglomerates. Parallel trials on the same masterbatch avoid random SKU swaps.
- ▸Log torque and filter/pressure.
- ▸Compare pigment with and without dispersant.
- ▸Tune wax only after dispersion stabilizes.
Plectus sample
Request pigment and dispersing-lubricant samples in the same process context. Masterbatch and pigmentation landings detail the application.
